2011 Growing Solutionist Moton Forum

The Gloucester Institute and The Robert Russa Moton Museum present the "2011 Growing Solutionist Moton Forum," sponsored by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. The Forum takes place Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 1:00 p at the Moton Museum, 900 Griffin Boulevard, Farmville, VA 23901.

The Honorable Ron Dellums, Vice Chairman of the J.C. Watts Companies and Daphne Reid, owner of New Millennium Studios in Petersburg, Virginia will be honored. 


Mr. Dellums will be honored for his leadership as a U.S. Member of the House of Representatives and mayor of Oakland, California, as well as, his leadership with fighting Apartheid. Mrs.  Reid will be honored for her work and leadership in the entertainment industry as an actress, business owner, and model.   She will also be recognized for her philanthropic work and vision for The Virginia Scholarship and Youth Development Foundation.

Ron Dellums will be our featured speaker addressing modern day Solutions for present day racial issues that continue to negatively impact our educational, economic and social environments.  Barbara Johns' (the young American civil rights hero who in 1951, at the age of 16, campaigned for the integration of Moton High School in Farmville, Prince Edward County, Virginia) story will be used as the back drop for the '2011 Growing Solutionist Moton Forum" where participants will be  encouraged to rally together to fight for common goals of equality in their perspective fields.
