The Program for 30 Somethings offers young professionals counsel as they enter a pivotal stage in their professional and personal lives.
The Gloucester Institute recognizes that through their diverse professional experiences young African Americans living in our nation's capital have the power to influence public policy and shape the social debate of the entire world. In an effort to help nurture and develop their leadership, The First Saturday Group mentors young African American professionals living in the Metro Washington, D.C. area.
First Saturday Group Volunteers with Food and Friends
The Gloucester Institute FSG recently joined the staff of Food and Friends by participating in meal and grocery deliveries to people living with, HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses.
“When you hear the staggering number of people suffering with HIV/AIDS, you feel helpless. This volunteer experience has shown me the power that we have to make a difference,” said Tiffany Moore FSG Member “At every stop on our delivery route, we were greeted with such kindness and warmth from the Food and Friends clients.”
Food and Friends was founded in 1989 to provide home-delivered freshly prepared meals, groceries and nutrition counseling to clients suffering life-challenging illnesses. The organization delivers to an over 6000 square mile area.
