2017-2018 Class Officers
President - Reginald Burroughs
Reginald Burroughs, a senior at Virginia State University (VSU), located in Petersburg, Virginia, is pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Engineering. Reginald says, “I have dedicated my life to being a voice for underprivileged communities. It is my job to get up each day seeking opportunities to make a difference on my college campus, in our nation and the world.” As a University Innovation Fellow (UIF), Reginald serves as a catalyst for change by working closely with the administration, faculty members, and students at VSU to advance innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity. He believes innovation is a fundamental way to develop revolutionary change. One of Reginald’s favorite innovation projects is the development of a racecar. Reginald is also a member of VSU’s Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering club, and the National Society of Black Engineers. As an emerging leader, Reginald looks forward to studying law after undergraduate school.
Vice President - Jordyn Hawkins-Rippie
Jordyn Hawkins-Rippie is a Graduating Senior, Business Management Major and Leadership Studies Minor attending Hampton University, located in Hampton, VA. As a Baltimore, Maryland native and emerging healthcare administrator, Jordyn says “Everyone should not only be provided equal access to healthcare, but also equal treatment regardless of their background.” Jordyn served as a former fellow of the Summer Institute of Emerging Managers and Leaders (SIEML) for two consecutive years at UC Davis and UC San Diego, respectively, and currently is a member of the Freddye T. Davy Honors College and the William R. Harvey Leadership Institute. This Emerging Leader has completed two consecutive summer internships at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Atlanta, GA and PNC Financial Services Group in Baltimore, MD where he served as a Marketing & Sales Intern and a Consumer and Business Banking Intern respectively. After graduation, Jordyn plans to pursue a Master’s in Healthcare Administration.
Director of Recruitment - Miles Jenkins
Miles Jenkins, a senior at Hampton University located in Hampton, Virginia is studying Business Management. The native of Baltimore, Maryland says, “I am a strong advocate for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBUCs).” Miles served as a White House Initiative HBCU All Star from 2015 to2016. Miles is a member of the Freddye T. Davy Honors College and the Student Recruitment Team. He is a recent graduate of a Harvard Business School management-training program. This emerging leader, was selected for two internship opportunities with Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) where he worked on economic development and energy efficiency issues. After graduation Miles plans to pursue a Master’s in Business Administration.
Director of Social Media - Casey Overton
Casey Overton, a senior at Hampton University located in Hampton, Virginia is a Strategic Communications major. She serves as a member of the Freddye T. Davy Honors College and sings in the Concert Choir. The emerging leader, volunteers in the writing lab where she tutors and assists students with various writing assignments. Casey aspires to be a public relations professional for a ministry and faith-based organization. After college Casey plans to obtain a Master's of Divinity Degree.
